Trullo AriaValle d'Itria, Puglia
Experience quintessential Puglia in a glorious rural setting when you choose Trullo Aria as your holiday home. This characterful villa consists of two restored trullo houses and a lamia, two striking architectural forms unique to this scenic part of rural Italy. Complete with an inviting saltwater pool, shaded dining area and private grounds dotted with olive trees, it is a wonderful place for enjoying the summer sunshine.
Trullo Aria sleeps up to eight guests across two separate stone dwellings. The thick, white-washed, stone walls, original floors and curved ceilings ensure you have beautifully cool interiors. Each room has been restored and furnished to complement the rustic charm of the structures whilst incorporating enough contemporary features for a comfortable stay.
The larger trullo house sleeps up to four. Step inside into a luminous living room with its characteristic stone walls and alcoves. On one side is the kitchen and dining area. On the other side is a bijou sitting room with a sofa and desk. Head down steps from here to a double bedroom with its own bathroom. From here, a doorway takes you to a second double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and doorway to the garden.
A few metres away along a path is the second gorgeous trullo house. Smaller than the first, it has a beautifully-furnished living room, a small kitchen, desk, double bedroom and a bathroom. The Lamia is the fourth double bedroom with its own bathroom. It backs onto the second trullo and has its own front door from the garden, a distinctive curved roof and a decked terrace where you can soak up the sun on a couple of loungers.
A lawned garden surrounds Trullo Aria and olive trees provide welcome shade and privacy. An inviting pool is perfect for a cooling swim and its attractive stone steps blend perfectly with the rustic stone of the trulli. Gather on loungers here or under the shade of the pergola for delicious, Puglia-style feasts.
Beyond the villa there is plenty to discover. Head through untouched countryside passed neighbouring trulli to the nearby hill towns of Cisternino and Locorotondo for strolls through cobbled street, a variety of Italian style eateries and shops. You can reach both coasts by car within half an hour from the villa where you find an array of wonderful beaches, bars and seafood restaurants.
This is ‘la dolce vita’ at its best!
